Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru (Japanese: やはり俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。 Hepburn: Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabukome wa Machigatteiru.), abbreviated as OreGairu (俺ガイル) and Hamachi (はまち), also known as My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU and My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected, is an anime that is based on the light novel of the same name.

Plot[]

The plot revolves around an antisocial high school student named Hachiman Hikigaya, who is a loner and cynic with a distorted view on life and has no friends or girlfriend. Hachiman is self-depreciating and seeks to avoid other people. However, when he hands in an offensive school report, his teacher forces him to join the "Volunteer/Service Club". The club's president and only other member, is Yukino Yukinoshita, another loner, whom he considers the school's prettiest and smartest girl. Despite their contrasting personalities and ideals, they must work together to offer help and advice to others as part of their school's Service Club.

It largely depicts various social situations faced by teens in a high school setting and the psychology driving their interactions.

The story is told from the main character, Hachiman Hikigaya's point of view, meaning the audience is given the same information that the main character is.

Season 1[]

Season 1 aired on TBS from April 4, 2013 to June 21, 2013, with an additional anime-original episode written by Wataru Watari following the series on June 28, 2013. It was directed by Ai Yoshimura and produced by Brain's Base. The series was simulcast with English subtitles by Crunchyroll, AnimeLab (Australia & New Zealand), Anime on Demand (UK & Ireland), and The Anime Network. It was also broadcasted on Animax-Asia on July 9, 2014. The anime has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks in North America and Madman Entertainment in Australia.

Season 2[]

A second season, titled "Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku" (Japanese: やはり俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。続 Hepburn: Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabukome wa Machigatteiru. Zoku.), also known as My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO! is a direct sequel to My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU. It aired on TBS from April 3, 2015, to June 26, 2015. This season covered Volumes 7 - 11 of the light novel. The final episode aired on the release date of Volume 11. An OVA episode was bundled with the second video game. It covers Volume 10.5, and is set between episodes 11-12.

  • Coca-Cola

    Five Coca-Cola products were endorsed in this anime. The first one is The Coca-Cola Vending Machine was shown on Episode 2, Hachiman stating that there were no MAX Coffee available at the vending machine, a Georgia Black Emerald Mountain Blend, Fanta Soda Cans that were shown in Episode 6, and Coca-Cola Soda Cans.
  • UNO, an American card game, was also endorsed in the 2nd Episode of the series where Zaimokuza is seen holding the UNO deck while dreaming about Hachiman calls UNO during his sleep. In the Light Novel they play Mahjong.

Season 3[]

A third season, "Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Kan" also known as "My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Climax" was announced on March 18th, 2019. [1] It was revealed at Anime Expo 2019 that the third season would be released sometime in 2020 and Studio "feel" be responsible for continuing the series. [2]

Season 3 was originally scheduled to air on April 9th, 2020 primarily on TBS,[3] and Amazon Prime. Also Saori Hayami and Nao Toyama were revealed to have performed the OP and ED.[4]

However, due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Season 3 was postponed until July 10th, 2020.[5][6]

Trivia[]

  • Unlike Season 2, it appears that the endorsement for every Coca-Cola products has been expired and renamed some of the products instead. Like for example, Hachiman's favorite MAX coffee cans and machines has been renamed to MAXIS Coffee for endorsement reasons. While still retaining some of the familiar colors and shapes shown in MAX coffee products.

The OVA Episode was not broadcast with season 1. Instead it was released limited editions of the first game. [8]

Season 1 covers the Volumes 1 - 6 of the Light Novels, while Episode 13 of the anime covers the Volume 6.5 (Short Volumes 6.25, 6.50, 6.75). An OVA episode was bundled with the limited edition of the first video game, which was released on September 19, 2013. It covers part A of Volume 7.5.

Hachiman Hikigaya is forced to join the Service Club and meets the only other member, Yukino Yukinoshita. Even though they argue and have different ideals, Hachiman believes they are somewhat similar.

Together they handle the clubs first request from Yui Yuigahama, who wishes to make cookies for someone. While Yukino's method fails, Hachiman manages to fulfill her request.

Afterwards Yui gives Hachiman and Yukino cookies as thanks. Yui then insists she can help with the club and befriends the current Service Club members.

Hachiman hands in an unorthodox biology assignment that gets him in trouble. While being reprimanded by Shizuka, she asks him about the club's progress and offers her own thoughts on the club.

At lunch, Hachiman observes Yui's failed attempts to break away from Miura, in order to have lunch with Yukino. Yukino shows up and demands to know why Yui is late, but understands once Yumiko makes herself known. Yukino argues with Yumiko and then waits outside. While outside, Yukino and Hachiman listen to Yui telling Yumiko how she really wants to be treated.

After school Yoshiteru Zaimokuza shows up at the club with and requests they review his light novel. That evening Hachiman has a flashback about his accident. 

The following day the Service Club and Yui give feedback to Zaimokuza, resolving his request.

Hachiman is eating lunch at his favorite spot when he is interrupted by Yui. While they chat, they are joined by Saika Totsuka.

The following day, Hachiman pairs up with Saika for tennis who asks Hachiman to join the Tennis Club. Unsure of what to do, Hachiman asks Yukino for advice. Yui shows up with Saika who requests that the club help him with tennis practice.

During practice Yumiko and her posse show up and demand to use the court. Hayama Hayato and Yumiko challenge Hachiman and Yui to a tennis match with the winner being able to use the court and help Saika practice.

As Yumiko and Hayato steadily gain lead, Yui sprains her ankle but gets Yukino as her replacement. Yukino dominates the game until her stamina runs low. She entrusts the game to Hachiman, who is able to win the match. Yukino leaves with Yui while Saika thanks Hachiman. As Hachiman returns to the club room, he walks in on Yui and Yukino changing and is knocked out with a tennis racquet.

On the way to school, Hachiman and Komachi talk about his bike/car accident.

At school, Hachiman is reprimanded by Shizuka for his "Workplace Visit Survey" where he tries to justify becoming a "house-husband".

At the Service Club, Yui and Hachiman receive a mysterious chain text spreading vulgar rumours about Hayato's clique. Hayato requests that the Service Club stop the text from circulating.

They realize that the texts are connected to the upcoming three-person-per-group Workplace Visit. Hayato's clique has four people, one of them is spreading the rumors to get someone knocked out of the group. After some observation, Hachiman explains to the Service Club that he doesn't know who the culprit is, but solves the case by suggesting that Hayato have the members of his clique group-up and get to know each other better, which seems to work.

Hayato groups with Hachiman along with Saika for the Workplace Visit.

Hachiman arrives late for class along with Saki Kawasaki. Hachiman notices Saki looking at a flyer for summer school classes.

Later, Hachiman runs into Yukino, Yui and Saika having a study session at a cafe and are joined by Komachi and her friend Taishi Kawasaki. Taishi explains to them that he is worried about Saki and asks for help.

The Service Club try and fail using various methods to approach Saki. Later on, the Service Club discover that Saki works nights at a cafe.

One night the Service club goes to confront her. Yukino and Saki argue about their different family circumstances. Hachiman asks Saki to meet him after her shift.

The following morning, Hachiman reveals to the group that Saki is working to fund her summer school tuition. To help Taishi, Hachiman tells Saki about scholarships.

As Hachiman and Komachi walk home, Komachi reveals that the owner of the dog he saved is Yui.

This prompts Hachiman to cut his ties with Yui at the end of the Workplace Visit, believing that she was only nice to him out of guilt. Upset by his words, Yui runs off.

Hachiman ends with a monologue explaining that a loner such as himself might misunderstand feelings of girls when they are nice to him, so rather than fall for that "trap", he will always reject them.

Hachiman feels satisfied that he was able to "reset" his relationship with Yui. Yui is no longer showing up to the Service Club.

Shizuka shows up after school and requests that they find another member. Yukino tells Hachiman that she would like to get Yui to rejoin the club by celebrating her birthday.

That weekend, Yukino, Hachiman and Komachi go shopping to find presents for Yui. Komachi disappears and then they are confronted by Haruno. After Haruno leaves, a dog runs up to them and starts playing with Hachiman. Yui shows up behind them and mistakes them for being on a date. She collects her dog and hurriedly makes to leave, Yukino asks her to visit the club on Monday.

On Monday, Yukino thanks Yui for all that she did for the club and gives her the birthday present. Hachiman also produces a present for her, and refers to their last encounter at the "Workplace Visit". Yukino then helps repair their relationship.

Yukino leaves to inform Shizuka that Yui has returned to the club. Yui thanks Hachiman and runs off happily.

Hachiman tries to relax during summer break, but is tricked by Komachi and Shizuka to help out at a summer camp. Shizuka then explains to Hachiman that it will provide a good opportunity for him and Yukino to interact with people from other social cliques.

At camp, Hachiman and Yukino notice Rumi Tsurumi being shunned by her classmates.

During lunch, they observe Hayama's failed attempts to talk to Rumi. She walks away towards Hachiman and Yukino. After introducing themselves, Rumi explains her situation.

At dinner, the Sobu High students discuss Rumi's circumstances and try to come up with ways to help her.

Later, Hachiman, goes for a walk and finds Yukino stargazing. Yukino reveals her feelings and talks a little about her and Hayama's pasts.

As Hachiman looks at the stars, Rumi is seen squatting alone by the riverbank.

Shizuka has the Sobu students prepare for a bonfire as well as a special 'test of courage' for the campers.

Hachiman finds himself working alone and heads to the river to cool off. He finds everyone else playing in the water. Hachiman is joined by Rumi, Yukino and Yui and they further discuss Rumi's situation.

As the Sōbu High group prepares for the 'test of courage', Hachiman tells them his plan. His plan does not work properly as Rumi helps the other girls instead.

Afterwards nothing seems to have changed, other than the girls are not bullying Rumi outwardly.

Hayato talks to Hachiman about his feelings, past, and their "friendship".

When the group returns to school after camp, Haruno shows up in a limousine to pick Yukino up. As they leave, Yui and Hachiman recognize it as the limo that hit Hachiman. They don't see Yukino for the rest of summer break.

Hachiman grows restless as the end of summer approaches. Komachi is babysitting Yui's dog Sablé.

As thanks, Yui invites Komachi to the upcoming Fireworks Festival. Komachi declines but sends Hachiman instead.

At the festival, Hachiman and Yui are buying items for Komachi when they encounter Minami and her clique.

As the fireworks start Haruno spots them and invites them to the VIP section. As the three sit and watch the fireworks, they discuss their relationships with Yukino.

After the fireworks, Haruno offers to take Hachiman and Yui home in her limo, they decline despite Hachiman's words that he isn't bothered by the past accident.

Later, Yui asks Hachiman if Yukino had ever told him about the accident to which he negatively replies. He mentions they shouldn't pry. Yui seems happy and believes they would be friends even without the accident. As the discussion takes a romantic turn, Yui is interrupted by a call from her mother and hurries off.

School resumes the next day and Hachiman and Yukino run into each other. Finally Hachiman ends with a monologue explaining that he hates himself for believing his own ideal of Yukino, because just like any ordinary person, she too lies.

Hachiman is nominated, along with Minami as 2-F's representatives for the cultural festival.

At the committee meeting, Minami nominates herself to be its president.

Minami visits the Service Club and asks for their assistance in running the festival committee. Yukino solely accepts, upsetting Yui who makes Hachiman look out for her.

Yukino, as the vice-president, outshines Minami with her understanding and management of the festival.

Haruno shows up at the committee and applies to be a part of the festival. Yukino's declines, but Minami approves. She also accepts Haruno's offer to be a volunteer.

Minami starts to shirk her duties and the remaining committee have to work harder, with Yukino taking on most of the extra work.

Hayato and Meguri grow concerned over Yukino's division of work, but Hachiman makes them believe she can handle it. Yukino takes most of the work home and the following day fails to show up at school because of a cold.

After school, Hachiman and Yui visit Yukino to check up on her.

The following day, the committee tries to decide on a theme for the festival. Hachiman indirectly teases Minami's suggestion, and counters with his own, which subtly points out the committee members slacking off from their duties.

The next day, the committee comes out in force with Yukino continuing to take charge. Haruno explains how Hachiman's stunt made him an enemy of the committee and if he works harder, that would motivate everyone else to unite and surpass him.

As the festival starts, Minami falters in her opening speech with a bit of stage fright. Hachiman goes to oversee Hina's play which turns out to be a huge hit.

While taking a break, Yui brings Hachiman lunch and they discuss how to best get closer to Yukino. After they eat Yui indirectly asks Hachiman out, which he realizes.

Meanwhile, depressed with her inability to do anything meaningful for the festival, Minami locks herself in the bathroom.

Hachiman is stuck carrying out his duty as a committee member. Komachi shows up and is surprised to find her brother actually taking a bit of responsibility.

On stage, Haruno entertains the audience with her orchestra. As the closing ceremony approaches, Meguri reports that Minami is missing. The group decides to stall for time while Hachiman searches the campus for her.

Hachiman eventually finds Minami atop the laboratory roof. Hayato and Minami's clique show up to get her, although she refuses to budge. Hachiman antagonizes her into action by being hurtful.

After the festival, everyone shows mixed reactions on Hachiman's course of action.

That evening, at the Service Club room, Hachiman and Yukino discuss how far they've come, with Yukino hinting that they've become friends.

Yui shows up at the club to invite them for an after party hosted by Hayato.

Some time after the Cultural Festival, the Service Club receives an email asking for help in planning the upcoming Sports Festival. Meguri enters the club room and reveals that she had made the request and that she also wants to win.

At the sports committee meeting everyone brainstorms ideas for events, Shizuka shoots them all down. Hachiman suggests that they call in Yoshiteru and Hina who are better with creative work.

As the festival begins, the white team takes the lead over the red team thanks to Hayato's athletics. Yukino is able to help the red team catch up by winning the girls event.

For the boys event, Hachiman executes a plan involving himself and Yoshiteru, which seems to work.

The next day, Yukino reveals that the red team was disqualified because Hachiman's plan was considered cheating. As things return to normal, Hachiman concludes by pondering that they will make the most of their high school lives until it reaches an end.

Hachiman and Komachi discuss marriage during breakfast. He thinks that having a little sister to take care of him is similar to marriage.

After school Shizuka recruits the Service Club to help her prepare a magazine to promote "Love and Marriage" to teenagers.

Hachiman and Yukino start brainstorming ideas, but they admit they are both clueless when it comes to relationships. However Yui suggests that they conduct a marriage survey. The surveys aren't any help, which prompts Yukino to call in Komachi who has a "similar" experience when taking care of Hachiman.

Komachi suggests that they refocus the project on how to be a better wife and has Shizuka, Yui and Yukino compete in contests she makes up. The contest is comprised of a cook-off, a bridal quiz contest, and a who looks best in a bridal dress contest.

Afterwards the Service Club starts preparing the magazine. As Hachiman prepares his article, he writes that since no amount of preparation can really prepare someone for the unforeseen future, he advises female readers to stake their claim on their desired husbands since everyone deserves the right to be happy. 

Season 2[]

The 2nd season's animation is noticeably very different from the first season. The reason being production was handled by Studio "feel." instead of "Brain's Base", who did Season 1.

School resumes after the Culture and Athletic festivals and the focus shifts from Hikigaya Hachiman's actions to an upcoming field-trip to Kyoto.

Kakeru Tobe requests the Service Club's help with asking out Hina Ebina. They accept and Yui Yuigahama outlines a plan to utilize the field-trip for the request until Hina interrupts them. Hina remarks about their evolving relationships and desire for nothing to change.

They arrive in Kyoto for the field-trip. Hachiman and Yui make little progress with Tobe's request on the first day.

Hachiman and Yukino Yukinoshita spot Shizuka Hiratsuka attempting to sneak out of the hotel for alcohol. Shizuka bribes them with ramen to keep quiet. The first day of the field-trip ends with Hachiman escorting Yukino back to the hotel.

On the second day of the Kyoto trip, Hachiman and Yui continue to pair up Tobe and Ebina. Later Hachiman runs into Yumiko Miura at a convenience store, who mentions he should stop messing with Ebina, as she doesn't want her group to change.

The next day Hayato and Ebina separately ask Hachiman to stop Tobe's confession. Both are concerned about their group just like Yumiko.

That night the Service Club and Hayato's clique are observing Tobe's confession to Ebina. Before Tobe confesses, Hachiman interrupts him and asks Ebina on a date. Hina rejects him and explains her desire to be single. Tobe then thanks Hachiman for saving him from the embarrassment of rejection.

Despite Hachiman fulfilling everyone's requests, Yukino voices her disgust at his actions and Yui tearfully yells at him for failing to see how his problem solving methods hurt those who care about him.

The next day Hina thanks Hachiman for fulfilling her request in saving the status quo of her peer group.

Episode 3

School resumes and Hayato's clique is back to normal, while Service Club becomes very tense.

Meguri Shiromeguri and Isshiki Iroha request aid in helping Isshiki lose the upcoming Student Council presidential election. Hachiman and Yukino argue over how to handle the request and agree to use separate methods.

Later, Hachiman runs into Haruno, as well as Kaori Orimoto and Chika Nakamachi. Haruno invites Hayato out to meet her (them).

At the next Service Club meeting, Hachiman and Yukino argue further about their differing methods.

In the epilogue, Isshiki goes after Hachiman and expresses her concern over the tense state of the Service Club, but he promises that they will figure something out.

Hayato invites Hachiman to hang out with Kaori, Chika and himself. Hachiman declines, only to reconsider after pressuring from Haruno.

The four of them go out one afternoon and the Kaihin girls continuously poke fun at the expense of Hachiman. At one point they run into Isshiki and Tobe.

That evening Hayato secretly invites Yukino and Yui to meet them. He then defends Hachiman's integrity from Kaori and Chika in front of Yui and Yukino. Afterwards, Yukino voices her disapproval for being deceived by Hayato. Haruno appears and taunts Yukino about not running for student president.

In the aftermath, Hayato apologizes to Hachiman, he only intended to get Hachiman to see the error of his self-sacrificial methods. This offends Hachiman to the point where he argues that the consequences of his choices are his alone and should not be the concern of others.

The next day, Yukino decides to enter the election against Isshiki as a solution for her request. Since this effectively jeopardizes the future of the Service Club should Yukino emerge victorious, Yui also decides to enter the election in an attempt to preserve the Service Club should she win. Yui almost confesses to Hachiman.

Hachiman is conflicted about what to do. He considers that his friends might be more important than fulfilling requests. Komachi offers him advice and requests that he find a way to keep both Yukino and Yui in the Service Club.

The next day, Hachiman meets with Zaimokuza, Totsuka, Kawasaki and Komachi to brainstorm ideas for handling the student council election. They help Hachiman realize that his initial idea was the wrong way to do things. Later, Hachiman has Yoshiteru create an anonymous social media campaign supporting Isshiki.

The following day, Hachiman manages to convince Isshiki into accepting the presidential position. Hachiman later presents the statistics to Yui and Yukino but does not tell them that he manipulated the entire situation to make Isshiki accept.

Yukino is disappointed and Yui assumes he did something underhanded again, but thanks him anyway. Isshiki eventually wins the election by default and life moves on once again.

Even though Hachiman has "solved" Isshiki's request, the Service Club is still tense and less friendly than before.

Isshiki soon asks the club to help the Student Council with a Christmas event. Hachiman rejects the request on behalf of the club and instead takes it up personally.

Later that day, Hachiman meets with the Soubu and Kaihin Student Councils at the local community center to begin planning the event. Hachiman observes how Kaihin's president talks in circles and pushes any work onto Isshiki.

The next day, Hachiman tries moving the conference along productively but keeps getting shut down by Tamanawa. After the meeting, Kaori catches up with Hachiman and talks about how different he is and that he seems to be skilled at diplomacy.

Hachiman thinks back about how foolish he was in middle school.

On the way to Service Club Yui talks to Hachiman about Yukino.

Hachiman begins leaving Service Club early in order to help Isshiki.

Very little is being accomplished during the Christmas planning. Elementary school children are brought in to perform as part of the Christmas event. Among them is Tsurumi Rumi. After struggling throughout the day Hachiman runs into Totsuka on his way home and they have dinner together.

The next day, Hachiman and Isshiki run into Kaori and they briefly discuss their past, piquing Isshiki's curiosity. During the meeting nothing is accomplished again. Hachiman also notices Rumi is doing well, but her issue isn't solved completely. He realizes the outcomes of all his actions are not what they should be.

Later Hachiman is wandering around thinking about his situation when he runs into Yukino shopping at the mall. Yukino tells him he no longer has to force himself into coming to the Service Club.

After their encounter Yukino leaves. Shizuka spots Hachiman on his way home and invites him for a ride/talk. Shizuka offers him advice about his situation.

The following day, Hachiman takes Shizuka's advice and asks for Yui and Yukino's assistance and admits his plans had caused a mess. Yukino declines stating he should clean up his own mess. Hachiman then explains his wish for something genuine. Yukino becomes conflicted and runs away.

On the rooftop they reconcile and Yukino decides to help Hachiman with his request.

Yui and Yukino join Hachiman and Isshiki for the next Christmas event meeting. After the meeting, Yukino points out that the situation is far worse than she imagined and they turn to Shizuka for advice. Shizuka gives them four tickets to Destinyland. The group accepts hoping to find ideas for the Christmas event. Yui decides to invite Hayato who brings his clique.

Ebina thanks Hachiman for his solution during the Kyoto trip. She also apologizes if it put a strain on the Service Clubs relationship.

After enjoying several attractions with the others, Hachiman and Yukino get separated from the group. They decide to take one of the rides to kill time, having a heartfelt conversation during this moment.

Afterwards they reunite with the others, Hachiman watches Isshiki confess to Hayato but get rejected. 

Episode 10

Isshiki is escorted home by Hachiman after her rejection by Hayato. She blames Hachiman for her actions.

Hachiman takes charge at the next Christmas meeting and calls out Kaihin's Student Council on their lack of action. This has the desired effect and they soon settle on a musical & play.

During break Kaori tells Hachiman that she wouldn't mind starting their friendship over.

On the day of the Christmas event, Isshiki takes charge and the event turns out a huge success. Later, Hachiman thanks Yui and Yukino for resolving his request. They both agree that his request isn't finished (genuine), confusing him.

The Service Club go out to celebrate the New Year a week later and Hachiman encourages Yukino to spend the season with her family.

Hachiman and Yui go shopping for Yukino's birthday and run into Haruno and Hayato. Haruno then calls Yukino to meet her. Yukino is surprised when her mother shows up, who wants to take her for their family meal. Yukino seems reluctant, before Haruno backs her down and they leave for dinner. 

Episode 11

After winter break, a rumor about relations between Yukino and Hayato is being spread. Yumiko visits the Service Club where she confronts Yukino who denies the rumour. She requests they find out Hayato's career plan so she can be in his classes another year.

Hachiman directly asks Hayato but is rejected. He then asks Haruno for help, who refuses as well.

Hachiman uses the Annual Winter Event Marathon to talk to Hayato alone. He goads Hayato into choosing Sciences. Hayato mentions he cant do what Hachiman asks and leaves Hachiman behind.

Hayato wins the marathon and dispels the rumor when he thanks Yumiko and Isshiki for their support.

Later, Hayato apologizes to Yukino for the rumor at the after-party. Hayato and Hachiman agree to disagree about their lifestyles.

Hachiman meets with Haruno to discuss Yukino and her career path.

The Soubu students turn their attention towards Valentine's Day. Many students want help with making homemade chocolates from the Service Club in order to give chocolates to Hayato. Since Hayato had decided not to accept chocolates from anyone, Hachiman concludes that they would need an excuse to force him to accept them.

Isshiki decides to joint-host a Cooking event with Kaihin School. The event turns out to be a huge success in bringing everyone together.

Shizuka expresses her content with the growth that Hachiman has shown. Haruno teases Hachiman and Yukino during the event making their group tense.

As the Service Club walk home together, they encounter Yukino's mother. Yui and Hachiman get a glimpse of Yukino's struggle for individuality in her family's shadow. This leaves Hachiman with the impression that they all have yet to find their true selves hidden behind their personas.

Episode 13

Haruno intercepts the Service Club on their way home one afternoon and says she will be staying with Yukino for a while. Yui then allows Yukino to spend the night at her house until things cool down.

The next day, while Komachi takes Soubu Entrance Examinations, Yui invites Hachiman and Yukino out to the aquarium. Yui eventually states the true reason she called them out and offers an ultimatum, if she wins they must all remain friends and stop exploring their feelings for each-other. Hachiman rejects the proposal stating its not genuine, and the girls decide to accept his compromise. Yukino then asks if they will hear her request, which Yui accepts.

Disclaimer: This episode takes place before Episode 13

Isshiki makes Hachiman come with her on a "date", to brainstorm date idea's Hayama might like. They play ping pong, see a movie, eat dinner as well as go for dessert. Afterwards, Isshiki concedes she had fun.

The next day Isshiki asks the Service Club to find more date spots for a student newsletter. She gives them a camera to take pictures of good spots.

On Hachiman's next free day he accompanies Yui and Yukino to look around for places students would enjoy.

When at school Isshiki approves of all the photos the Service Club took. She also decides to take a photo of the Service Club as thanks and because they will need one for the yearbook.

At the end of their visit to Kasai Rinkai Park, Hachiman ponders how he, Yukino, and Yui will find a genuine solution to the challenges they face with their relationship. After buying them drinks and chatting about Yui's cookies, Hachiman prompts Yukino to tell him and Yui her request. Yukino explains that she wants to strike her own path in life instead of following in the footsteps of her parents and sister; her request is that Hachiman and Yukino support her in her endeavours to become a more capable, independent person. To this end, Yukino resolves to move out of her apartment and back to her family home and smooth things over with her family. After Hachiman and Yui accept her request, the three of them travel to Yukino's apartment where they are greeted by Haruno, who is intoxicated. Flashing forward to the next day, Hachiman checks in on the frenzied preparations of his younger sister Komachi, who is preparing for the interview-based second stage of her entrance exam for Hachiman's high school. He agrees to meet her at the Marinpia shopping centre after her exam; while waiting for her, he runs into his classmate Saki Kawasaki and her younger sister Keika. Hachiman and Saki discuss her younger brother's entrance exams and their experiences with younger siblings before an elated Komachi joins them. After Saki and Keika leave, Hachiman and Komachi go on a shopping trip before returning home. Komachi insists on organizing the house and doing chores to make up for her inability to do so while she was studying for her exams. Afterwards, she gives her older brother a heartfelt thanks for his support of her, which brings rare tears to Hachiman's eyes.

Yukino has a long talk with her sister Haruno, who later takes a walk with Hachiman. Iroha Isshiki plans an American-style prom graduation party, and Yukino wants to help by herself. While helping Yukino pack, Yui sees something that shakes her.

The promotional video for the Prom proves popular, and after the meeting Yui helps Hachiman buy a gift for his sister. Later on Yukino's mother announces that there are people opposing the Prom. Yukino once again wants to take care of the situation by herself, but later news makes Hachiman get involved and Yui has to be honest with herself.

Hachiman's teacher, Shizuka Hiratsuka, warns him that the school's administration is slyly trying to cancel the Prom. On his way to see Yukino, Hachiman is intercepted by Iroha. Later he confronts Yukino about getting involved with the Prom, even though she still refuses to rely on him in order to become more independent.

Iroha is upset that Hachiman's challenge to Yukino complicated the plans for the Prom. She then tells him her reasons why she wants the Prom to happen so badly. That night he talks about graduations' events with his sister Komachi. The next day he tells Yui of his plan and recruit some manpower. Later, while looking for information about Proms with Hachiman, Yui thinks about how things will change and her dreams end.

Yoshiteru recruits Hatano and Sagami from the gaming club to help Hachiman get Yukino's Prom accepted, with a proposal that will make hers look really good by comparison. To increase their plan's credibility, Yui and Hachiman meet with Orimoto and Tamanawa, from Kahin Sogo High School, and the boys have a rap-battle. After settling on a project name and working on a website, Hachiman has a friendly conversation with Yukino outside. Yui tells Yukino she is helping Hachiman.

Hayato Hayama tells Hachiman he can't support his dummy Prom plan. The website for the fake Prom plan goes online. Teacher Shizuka and Hachiman meet with an unlikely ally who figured out his dummy plan. Yui is bothered by Haruno saying earlier that Hachiman, Yukino, and Yui are codependent. Hachiman goes to see Yukino when the fate of the Prom is settled, and she makes a surprising request. Later she meets with Yui who is finally honest with herself about her feelings.

With the Prom Graduation Party to take place, Hachiman makes good on his promise to Yukino. He will grant Yui whatever wish that is within his abilities. She has many but she also wants to grant him a wish. At school Yukino mentions that the Prom requires a lot of logistics, but refuses Hachiman's offer to help. The following Saturday, Yui invites Hachiman to bake sweets for his little sister, Komachi. Later on the graduation ceremony is very emotional to the president of the student council, Meguri.

The night of the Graduation Prom, Hachiman acknowledges he can't refuse to help when he is needed. Later in the evening Yui asks him for a dance. Afterwards the Prom-team gather in the Student Council's room and are visited by Yukino's mother and sister, Haruno. When the others leave, Yui, Yukino, and Hachiman share a heartfelt conversation and then he meets with Haruno, giving him much food for thought. Homeroom teacher, Shizuka Hiratsuka, offers to drive Hachiman home due the late hour, and they end up talking at a baseball batting range.

Shizuka tells Hachiman feelings can't be expressed with only one word, like 'codependence'. He decides his relationship with the girls is a sham, due their lack of honest communication. After school he has a talk with Yui about the Service Club's end, and also wanting to continue to associate with Yukino, making Yui upset. Iroha confronts the gaming-club about a Prom not involving the Students Council, while Hachiman -who is behind it- meets with Yukino, her mother and sister. Afterwards Hachiman and Yukino have a long conversation on a bridge, trying to convey their feelings in spite of their poor communication and socializing skills.

Hachiman and Yukino meet to plan a joint prom with other schools, but are short on time, manpower, and budget. They visit a potential location for the Prom, and he misunderstands her comment when they see a wedding. The next day more people than expected show up to help out, and later the boys take a break relaxing at a sauna. While they're preparing the ballroom, Komachi shows up and Iroha gives romantic advice to Yui. After the event, Hachiman and Yukino wrap things up and she leaves him speechless with a confession. While dealing with the aftermath of the joint-prom, Komachi and Iroha come by to resucitate the 'Service Club', then Yui has a request.
